Far in the past are the roots of this small village located at the Dhron. Already Romans have lived here and left their signatures. The old stone bridge with two flat elbows, which leads across the Dhron, was already used by the Romans.
Graefendhron was first mentioned in history at 3 May 1255. At that time Nikolaus, Vogt bequeathed to its wife Beatrix to Hunolstein a yard located at the Drogene as widow seat. To distinguish from the yard of the bishop the site was called Graefendhron.
